I can’t believe it’s already January 30th… How are you doing with goal setting for the New Year? You know, It’s not too late to make them if you haven’t yet. As I get older I realize that success doesn’t happen over night and that “the journey is the destination”…That may sound cheesy to some but it’s true. I am learning that you will never reach a vague goal. The more general it is, the less power it has. But the more specific it is, the more power it has in your life. I am proud to say that my husband, business partner Adrian and I are getting better at this with every passing year.
I am excited to share with you one professional goal that we are kicking into the New Year strong! Our production company, Film Gnomes, is in Pre-production for a stop motion short film entailed “Saving GI Joe”. This project started two years ago but it took a back seat as we started working on other projects and goals. This project came up in our first meeting of the year. We re-visited it and came to the decision that we need to finish what we started. We immediately took action. Dusted off the script and looked at some test shots that we did and decided to turn Adrian’s garage into our studio. It’s a work in progress but it is coming a long quite nicely.
That is what I love about Indie filmmaking; you learn to work with what you do have. We are not waiting around to have a fancy studio to make this project happen. Don’t get me wrong, that would be nice. But until then, we are working with what we do have and making the best of it. I say all that, to say this…don’t get discouraged that you are not exactly where you may want to be but, if you get specific about your future and your goals for 2013 you will have different results.
I started a daily reading from Rick Warren and found this very helpful. Ask yourself these four questions:
1) What do I want to be?
2) What do I want to do?
3) What do I want to have?
4) Why do I want it?
“You can’t just know the what. You need to know the why; that’s your motivation. If you don’t know why, you will give up when it gets tough. You don’t need to focus on the how for now because, once you figure out the why, God will show you how. He will help you solve the problems that stand in the way of your goal.” -Rick Warren
Wishing you the best this New Year! May 2013 be your best year yet!
Keeping you in the loop!
